Submission Guidelines

In an effort to be environmentally friendly please query the agency prior to sending in your manuscript via email to: ONLY. Queries sent to any other email address will not be read or be answered. Your query should include a formal cover letter, a brief synopsis, and a curriculum vitae if submitting an academic manuscript. We accept submissions from all authors-published or not-and respond to all such queries within 72 hours. However, manuscripts sent in either electronically or via snail mail without first querying the agency will not be read and will not be returned.

***Please note that at this time the Brattle Agency will not be reading Fiction submissions of any kind. We will post here when we are accepting novels, short stories, or genre fiction again. Thank you for your patience.***

Once you have queried the agency and we have asked to see your manuscript, please submit the following: the first three chapters, a descriptive synopsis, a short biography or resume, and a self-addressed stamped envelope for reply. Original artwork including drawings, photographs, paintings and the like are not accepted under any circumstances so please submit copies instead. We are not responsible for any original artwork lost during the submission process. If you would like to receive all of your materials returned to you please include a self-addressed stamped mailer envelope with your submission. We generally respond to all approved submissions within 6-8 weeks. However, as a small agency we sometimes require more time. If you don't hear from us in the standard amount of time feel free to follow up via email.

We do not charge reading fees for requested submissions and we'd caution you to be wary of any agent or agency who does.
